Eagles sign Alshon Jeffery to 4-year pact through 2021! *link*
Alshon Jeffery joined the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal this offseason with hopes of proving himself worthy of a long-term pact. On Saturday, Jeffery got his wish.
The Eagles rewarded their star wide receiver with a four-year extension through the 2021 season.
With the new deal, Jeffery ranks behind only DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant in guaranteed money among wide receivers. With incentives, he is tied for seventh among wideouts in average cash per year.
He started off slow, but has really shown lately why we brought him here in the first place. Thank God we passed on signing the other big name Wr this offseason, in Terrelle Pryor, who turned out to be a complete bust. Really glad to know Wentz will have a true and legit #1 WR for years to come. In signing Jeffery into the 2020s, Philly has determined he is the skill player to build around on offense. Similar statement extensions were recently handed out to star right tackle Lane Johnson, tight end Zach Ertz, and also defensive tackles Fletcher Cox & Timmy Jernigan. All in all; Eagles players signed through at least 2020: QB Carson Wentz, WR Alshon Jeffery, TE Zach Ertz, RT Lane Johnson, C Jason Kelce, G Brandon Brooks, DT Fletcher Cox, DE Vinny Curry, DT Timmy Jernigan, DE Derek Barnett, S Malcolm Jenkins, S Rodney McLeod. *Mad props goes out to Howie Roseman & Joe Douglas for continuing to make all of the right moves with scouting and football operations/player personnel*

This is awesome news. I really wanted to see him stick around after this season. Great to know we'll have him for at least four more!

@drpompous- I can remember so many years that Andy Reid neglected the WR position. Stuck us with players like James Thrash, Todd Pinkston, Torrance Small, Reggie Brown, Riley Cooper, Hank Baskett, etc...ect...
Outside of Owens, we were stuck with garbage Wr's for years. So glad that we've made a commitment and priority on the position once again.

However, let's not forget that McNabb started with the Eagles in 1999. Djax didn't come along until 2008. Maclin in 2009. That's a 9-10 year span of nothingness, outside of the year and a half we had Owens. Owens was there in 2004 & 2005, but played less than half the season in 05' (7games regular season). That means there was about 7.5 seasons that Mcnabb was playing without any legit Wr's.

Yeah, I only started following football all that closely when I started fantasy, in 2009. Certainly remember TO for great entertainment value, and how he hated McNabb anyway. lol I lived in Seattle then.

I'm sorry Eddie, I hope the tests come back as a strain and not a tear. Hopefully this does not derail the Eagles on this fantastic year they are having

I havent been watching football, but my grandson came over Sunday and he wanted me to turn it to the game.
SO i did and we watched it and talked about who were the top 5 rb's in the league and stuff like that.
He said he thought Ajayi was second to Leveon Bell. I LOL'ed.
I told him how the cow ate the cabbage.
N e way...we watching and I said if Carson Wentz keeps running the ball like hes Michael Vick he is gonna get hurt like RG3.
I said if I was the Eagles coach I would yank him to the side and tell him..hey look....we need you. We have a chance to make it to the superbowl and you have a chance to win MVP. We cant do either one if you're on crutches.
Sure enough...it wasnt 30 minutes later,he goes running into the endzone and I see Barron measuring him up. In my mind I said dont do it!!!!
Then when I seen the hit I knew.
My grandson said...Ahh man you just said that he was gonna get hurt.
Well....

Prediction time, Nick Foles will give eagles fans a huge false sense of security this coming week when he throws for 4 TDs against the giants. He will probably beat the raiders also. Thats the last game this team is gonna win unfortunately. Wentz is to the eagles what wilson is to the seahawks. I just dont see them making it without him.

Haven't had a chance to review (job orientation all day), but they said the injury did not come on the play everyone thought. It was a bit later, like a freak thing. Sadly, all the Eagles need (if at all???) is to win 1 more game for a 1st round bye. This would've given Wentz an extra week. Remember, Foles had a great rookie year, and then took a dive. We are a better team now. He is certainly a liability over Wentz, but we'll see over the next couple week what he's still got. The great system we got now might breathe new life in him.

If you mean for next year, it doesn't sound serious enough to preclude him from the earliest of OTAs but IDK for sure.

Huge win and devastating loss all wrapped up in one for the Birds this past Sunday against the Rams. Carson Wentz proved this season what a special type of player he should be for years to come. He'll recover from this injury, and hopefully learn to take far fewer risk' of getting hurt again in the future.
To say that losing Wentz is a huge loss would be an understatement. Wentz has a unique set of skills and abilities that Foles won't be able to duplicate. In fact, there aren't more than a few Qb's in the league capable of doing some of the things Wentz can do.
However though, the show must go on.
With the NFC East locked up, the Eagles will at least host one playoff game, and there is still a good chance they also earn a bye and possibly home field advantage. With the win against the Rams, Philly also holds the top seed in the NFC, and with games against the Giants, Raiders and Cowboys remaining, there is a shot the team still has that top seed in January, even without Wentz behind center.
Let's also not forget the fact that the Eagles were losing when Foles stepped in to replace Wentz this past Sunday. There was still almost an entire quarter of football left to play against the Rams. Foles and our defense stepped up and did what it took to take back the lead and come away with the win against a very good team. That shouldn't be understated or overlooked.
Foles isn't just your average backup QB getting thrown into the fire here. He's got a long history with coach Pederson and this offense. Pederson knows Foles strengths and weaknesses very well, and Foles knows the offense inside and out.
Keep in mind, Foles HAS already won a division title for the Eagles once before, back in 2013, when he had to replace an injured Vick. Foles finished with 27 touchdowns and just two picks, which at the time was the best touchdown-interception ratio in league history. Tom Brady topped the mark last season by throwing 28 touchdowns and two interceptions.
While in no way, shape or form am I saying that Foles is a great Qb; he has proven plenty capable enough to step in and win games. It's a team effort, and I think the Eagles are well-rounded enough as a team to still make some noise, even without Wentz.
