UDFAs Curt Maggitt, Chester Rogers, Josh Ferguson, Frankie Williams, and Darius White make the team Really solid group although I did not anticipate White. My guess is he gets jettisoned as soon as Vontae Davis gets back or we find a better option. Surprising news is that Nate Irving, who most had thought had locked down the starting ILB job beside D'qwell Jackson, was released. Sio Moore and rookie Antonio Morrison will battle it out to start, and I anticipate this will be a season-long battle. Love Morrison's game but Moore is a really impressive athlete. I don't know if it was nerves, or that he knew he hung by a thread, but I saw Irving whiff at least 3 tackles against Cincy. Okine was a bit of a surprise though, since he had been getting good penetration and getting pressure. Shame we don't have as much flexibility on the roster because of all the injuries. Still, we may make some moves and pick up some cast off talent. I am very concerned about rushing the QB off the edge even though we sat our two old men that do that best all preseason. With our first three CBs out, we will really be exposed if we don't bring the heat. More surprising to me was Bates. Mathis had taken a liking to him and he flashed some nice tools in the preseason. Okine showed that he can be a solid disruptor, but to me it seems he was not a fit for what the Colts have been looking for. Last year you saw Mathis, Cole, Walden, and others drop into coverage or defend the flat regardless of position at the WILL or SAM. As a guy who has spent his entire career with his hand in the ground, just don't think Okine can be effective in the open field with his size. He's athletic for his massiveness, just not that type of athlete. He seems to be a much better fit as a 4-3 DE. He'll land somewhere. And I'm concerned as well. Although, I'm expecting Mathis to be improved another year removed from an achilles and Cole should be better with another year in the system, but I've never been a fan of Walden at the SAM. I think Maggitt can help a lot though with more coaching throughout the year. He can really get to the QB. I also think you'll see a lot of blitzes from Moore and Morrison at that second ILB spot. Both are damn quick and explosive. And as you said earlier in the thread, our safety play will be a valuable asset.

From what I can gather, this Monichino guy, or whatever his name is, believes in an attacking defense. Long term, I think it will be exciting for the fans. However, I don't know that we are beginning the season with all the tools. And when you go for the gusto, you either win big or lose big. Happy to have Philbin on the staff too. Over time, I imagine he will mold a great offensive line. Saw in the paper this morning that the only guy left from the 2013 draft is that injury prone OG that went on injured reserve. I imagine Grigson is feeling more heat than Pagano.

Last I looked, the Colts are a 5 point favorite at home over the Lions. Seems odd, with all the injuries we have. Still, I picked the Colts in the knockout league over at PSR. Figured if I got through the first week without picking one of the obvious slaughters I might survive longer if we win. Guess you can only pick a team once, so I figure this is a better strategy. If I stay in it, I will be looking for advice from the folks here.

Are you looking at the papers? Passivity on both sides of the ball is the main topic of discussion. Pagano is taking responsibility for the loss. People are calling for his head. Then we get to go to Denver this week. This may be a long season.

Lions vs. Colts (Week 1)Luck: 31/47 for 385yds & 4tds with 3car for 21yds Gore: 14car for 59yds with 4rec for 19yds P.Dorsett: 4rec for 94yds Hilton: 6rec for 79yds Moncrief: 6rec for 64yds & 1td. Who the hell is this TE J.Doyle who had 2rec tds? Just when I though D.Allen had it all to himself now that Fleener is gone, lol. D.Allen: Still had a decent game with 4rec for 53yds & 1td.

Hey Colts fans, here we come! Are ya ready? We are missing four top offensive weapons but if our OL gives Rivers time and Gordon keeps it up we can use anyone outside. One of Rivers best years was when he had good OL and used 17 WRs. Yup 17. Made stars of Seji Arjitutu, Legadu Nannie etc. Don't get me wrong. Loss of Keenan, Woodhead, Oliver, and Stevie Johnson is big. But the key for you guys, beat the OL. Also I took Dwayne Allen in a few leagues thinking he would be the man. Started out good, then some bonehead named Doyle showed up and stole my thunder.

I always go for the knees. Funny we are a 3 point favorite against a team we never seem to beat when we had to put out two safeties who weren't even in training camp as corners. If I were Rivers, I would be licking my chops.

Doyle is normally a blocking TE. I was hoping they would move him to one of the offensive tackle spots. Who knows, Luck might get time to throw a pass or two. I must say though, this last game was definitely one of Luck's worst. He may have been gunshy of the donkey rush, but while we usually hear how nothing was his fault, even the local pundits called him out this week for having a bad game.

So your DB's are banged up? Oh My. Travis Benjamin and Tyrel Williams could have a field day. I look forward to it. I'll go tell Phil. Oh wait I'm sure he knows already.
We signed Dexter McCallister today to try and take Danny Woodheads place.

We signed Dexter McCallister today to try and take Danny Woodheads place. Banged up? First four corners are out. Played the 5th and two safeties picked up on waivers to cover the slot. Ever heard of such a thing? Waiting on the MRI on Moncrief, 2nd wr. Likely out for your game. Two best d line players will also be out. One due to suspension. Best one playing is playing hurt. Other than that, we are in great shape.

Got some good news for you buddy, figured you could use it... Colts cornerback Vontae Davis (ankle), cornerback Patrick Robinson (concussion in a non-contact jersey) and safety T.J. Green (knee) practiced Wednesday.

So, we have slumped to 30th in the power rankings and cut two defensive "starters" from the team.
In my best scenario, Pagano is fired and replaced with Philbin. Philbin has HC experience and should be retained to continue to work on the O line when an eventual new head coach is found.
Grigson has to go. Injuries have played a big part, but even before the season, no good young linebackers or pass rushers. No decent back up running back. Sins from the past mean a lot of young players who may develop along the Offensive line, but a turnstile for now. Worst starting Left Tackle in the league.
I know people love to bash Luck, and his play has been a bit uneven when he has actually had time to throw the ball, but I am still convinced he has the potential to be the best in the league if they can find a way to protect him and actually generate a running game.
That's my story an I'm stickin tuit.

Not sure who to cheer for today. If we lose, the pundits think Irsay might actually fire both Pagano and Grigson.
