Luck doesn't seem to be the generational QB you were expecting, does he? Meh. Watch this year. Improved offensive line without the two turnstiles in the middle. If you actually followed the Colts last year, Luck was constantly being hit or forced to throw the ball before his receivers were open. In the OTA's the actually have seen him SLIDE at the end of a running play instead of barreling into the defender. And he THREW THE BALL AWAY a few times when his receivers were covered. Sonofabitch is stubborn, but the QB coach may have a shock collar on him.

It's hard to do much of anything when your offensive line is leaking like a sieve. The Eagles offensive line has also been that way the past few seasons. They have also addressed it. You guy's going to the playoff's this season?

You guy's going to the playoff's this season? Maybe. The best news I have heard is that Luck is angry and motivated after what happened last season. We now have depth on the DL and the OL. Receivers are okay. TE is questionable. Probably good at CB and safeties. Real worries are LB and effective pass rushers. Well, and we have a 33 year old RB who will certainly go HOF, but may have his best days behind him.

Luck got paid. New people on the Oline. Philbun is the Line Coach. Still need a receiver to go over the middle, but I noticed we have 5 or 6 extras in camp. Who knows?
Then there is the linebacking corps. Or is that corpse? We shall see.

Then there is the linebacking corps. Or is that corpse? We shall see. Main issues to overcome for your team: Pass Rush- Only 9 teams had less sacks than Indy last year. Your best pass rusher is now 35 years old(Mathis), and had just 7 sacks last season. Your second best pass rusher is ex-Eagle Trent Cole, who is now 33. Another guy is DE Kendall Langford, who also had 7 sacks last season. Looks like Langford will have to REALLY step it up, IMO. The other guys are too old to depend upon anymore. Outside of that, you have a linebacker named Erik Walden, and a few 7th round rookies to pray will get better. There has been little to no change in that area, for a group that was not productive last season at sacking the QB. Offensive Line- Your offensive line has allowed Luck to get knocked around more than any other QB in the league, over the past three seasons. The left side side of your O-Line looks good, including your first round selection of Ryan Kelly at center, but both your right guard AND tackle spots are still wide open heading into camp? Cross your finger there. RB's- Do you know that the Colt's haven't had a RB run for over 100 yards since 2012?!?! Frank Gore is now 33 years old, and only averaged 3.7 YPC last season. Not to mention, there's no reliable/proven backup behind him IMO. Bottom Line.....Luck wasn't himself even before the injuries last season. Now he'll have a rookie playing center(is a 1st rounder), two unknowns at the right guard & tackle spots, and a 33 year old RB with no quality depth behind him? Not trying to burst your bubble here, but it may be another tough one this season in INDY. Luck will certainly have to carry this team on his shoulders from what it sounds like.

I realize most of you know a lot more about football than I do, and I have mostly followed my own team. However, I subscribe to the theory that you really don't know what you have until they cut down to the final 53. Sometimes castoffs from other teams prove invaluable to their new employers. There is often a gem or two in undrafted free agents. True, we don't have the rings, but the Colts have done an impressive job over the past few years making the playoffs with a lot of spare parts. When we went batshit crazy with free agents that didn't pan out, we got into trouble. Meh, when we spent all our draft picks on offense we became lopsided. Seems they are trying to avoid both mistakes on their current path. You know what I always say. We shall see.

I keep hearing about this Hassan Richard. Just a 4th round pick, but big as a house. He was a DT until they beefed him up in college. Some of the Colts still think he moves like one at 317 lbs. Raw though, he will have his struggles early on. But some feel with his raw talent and high IQ, he will be a monster within a year or two.
For me, this is the fun of the preseason. I like to focus on a couple or three players as much as the game to see how they are developing.

Yesterday was a real clusterfuck. Sure, they held out a lot of players, but the ones that were in were certainly handled early in the game. The two rookie linemen (Richard and Good, DL and OL) got their asses handed to them. Of course, Buffalo's starting DL is beastly and their OL is not all that bad either.
Rookie safety Green was more impressive than I expected, so there is that.
Probably just about what I should have expected. The Offensive line is still in flux and starting lineup is yet to be determined. It will take a while to jell. The defensive line should be a strength when they get all their starters back. The receivers were open. That clown we started at quarterback could not hit a bull on the butt with a base fiddle. Terrible passing, although he was usually under a lot of pressure.
All in all, not a great beginning. Not time to panic either.
Rookie center Kelly got planted a couple of times. Still, he seemed calm and controlled. Not sure whether his shoulder injury was affecting him or not, but would give him a "C" against a very formidable defensive line.

Ravens vs. ColtsLuck completed all eight of his pass attempts for 69 yards, with two carries for another 12 yards. Not to shabby. The team finally addressed its perennially weak offensive line. Everything is in place for a huge bounce-back season. T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) held out as a precaution. Moncrief had two receptions for 25 yards. Dorsett hauled in all three of his targets for 37 yards. Blue Meanie

On the offensive side, we have some studs we have added to the Oline, but they are raw. Hopefully, will Philbin coaching them up, they will mold into a cohesive unit fairly early in the season. With one of the weaker schedules, perhaps we will get hot towards the end of the season. I still see this as a playoff team, but there are a lot of moving parts that will have to fall into place if we are going to do more than just make an appearance. No worries about Luck though, as long as he doesn't get hurt. He is throwing lasers in practice and right on the money.

Desperate Colts sign former Jets corner back Antonio Cromartie Desperation doesn't even begin to describe it. 7 of our best players on defense were not available last night. Our 3rd best CB joined the others on the bench after the first play of the game. We lost our best Offensive Lineman, perhaps for the season. The three rookies that did start on the O line were spanked like school children. I realize at lot of things can happen personnel wise, but it is hard not to feel a bit hopeless at this point.
