The thing I saw on the news showed Myrtle Beach getting the south end of it. And then spreads inland and south as it dies out. After looking at your map as to where you are, it looks like you will get some weather but be okay. Praying for ya all back there. Where is Steeler Jeff on your map?

Steeler is NW of Doc. If I recall he's around 150 miles west? Last I've see, sadly, it's projected to veer a bit south. Also heard definitely not a category 5 (145 mph). They are expecting about 120 cat 3 when it makes landfall, but all that can change today. Cat 2 100 mph when it gets to Wilmington, which is north of Myrtle Beach. So Eddie should be fine if all that hold up. But it is also expecting 10 - 15 inches of rain according to the graphic. The article title says up to 40, which I don't think is possible unless it slows to a crawl after landfall. www.yahoo.com/gma/hurricane-florence-slows-dramatically-approach-friday-night-landfall-104909001--abc-news-topstories.htmlNo caption under the supermarket pic, but I assume it's the bottled water aisle. Doc You should get out there now if you're gonna stay. IDK what your house is like, or the shutter situation. Do you know exactly your base elevation? There's a site where you can get it. Lemme see.... www.region2coastal.com/view-flood-maps-data/what-is-my-bfe-address-lookup-tool/I think u-haul is offering free storage. If you can all head south for a while, that would be ideal. Not the cheapest option obviously.

Better yet, here goes a map of me, Steeler, and where the eye of storm is "supposed" to hit.... Wilmington, NC is about 90 miles NE of me. However, it could make landfall anywhere from Wilmington all the way down to Charleston on that map. Of course I'm smack dab in the middle.

What about you Blue Meanie where are you? Anything east of Arizona is unknown territory to me. I’m in Indiana. Just south of Indy. Still too close to Kentucky.

No caption under the supermarket pic, but I assume it's the bottled water aisle. Doc You should get out there now if you're gonna stay. Already stocked up on water, beer & food. Just pissed all the generators were sold out already. If we lose power I'm fucked. As far as shutters and what not, we don't have any, but I haven't noticed any boarding up of windows anywhere in my neighborhood, and it appears that most people aren't going anywhere as of yet. I'm in a higher elevation type of area that is not known for flooding, but what possible 6ft surges from the ocean and possibly 2ft of rainfall, it very well could flood... pending where the eye of storm hits.

By the map it looks like you will avoid a direct hit,Doc.
But as we all know these storms change on a dime.
Jeffrey is far away from the coast but if the hurricane keeps the path its on now,Jeffrey's territory will get hit pretty hard with wind and rain, even that far away.
Last model I seen they had it kinda circling around you Doc and head towards the higher part of the state.
Columbia is where we are heading. We will be smack dab in the middle of yall.
We were going to leave early saturday morning but we may put if off til Sunday just to see what happens.
As of right now it looks like it will go around Columbia.
Wife is worried about us going down there, but Iam not as worried.
If its really bad and roads are closed off and flooding happens, that will be a different story.
We will make a pit stop for a few days in Navarre,Florida. We have friends who live there close to Pensacola.
Beach house and everything. Hopefully the hurricane wont be bad and we can go to SC for 3 days or so.
Until then....Doc and Jeffrey yall stay safe.

I have no idea in the world what you're smoking... why in the world would you travel anywhere near the path of where this storm is going to touch down at?

Speaking of people that haven't been here, have you talked to Eddie Doc? It's been downgraded to Cat 2, but a lot of rain is expected started tomorrow night. Last I heard, latest models were headed for his hood shortly after landfall, maybe not full brunt, but close. So far so good. Hasn't even started raining yet, and looks to me like eye of storm is even a bit further north than Wilmington now, maybe an extra 50-100 miles NE of me, giving me about 150-200 miles distance SW of where it looks to be landing. They keep showing projections of it making a leftward turn more towards me after it hits land, but that's not what it looks like to me, but then again I'm not a meteorologist. Really glad it's down to a CAT 2 now, cause 3-4 could rip off roofs like tin cans.

Hopefully the winds will pick up enough so it won't stall in one spot. It's still supposed to be pretty wide, but if it moves quickly, it'll be a disaster diverted by just about all.
