My wife made a turkey at my request. You know, with the mere paws, garlic cloves and so forth. You never would have convinced me years ago that turkey would be one of my favorite foods.

But fortunately ( or not) , I work food service in a Veteran's Home. Steeler, we also had boneless pork loin with sauerkraut, and I threw a couple pierogies (Polish dish) on my plate. Jeppers - I didn't know til a co-worker told me yesterday that pork for New Years was considered good luck. We haven't had that dish nor pierogies since I started, albeit just 3 weeks ago. Doc - I just might make a lasagna tonight. I love them to death, but they're a lot of work. Was it ground beef? Blue Meanie - I have a small-ish turkey in the freezer. I do like it more than chicken, but there's a reason people don't do it on a regular basis, especially if you're single. lol I feel like I haven't really had a chance to celebrate the New Year in the style I wanted, and now not sure I wanna do it today or for Wild Card Weekend. lol I bought a bottle of champagne sparkling wine but forgot to chill it before leaving for work, so maybe do that for tonight. Last night I just threw together a tom ka (Thai) soup with shrimp.

Yes, the lasagna was made with ground beef. Is there any other way to make Lasagna? haha Probably not. You can make it, well... not vegan, but meat-free. Like my brother and SIL are vegetarian, they eat (rennet-free) cheese, so we've made baked ziti or lasagna with spinach and mushrooms. It's totally great enough, but it's not as 'to die for' without the beef. lol To me, even a meat like turkey cannot match beef in flavor in dishes where it it most often substituted (why, oh why?!?) , like chili or meatballs or burgers. Doc why have you not joined my Playoff Challenge. Get on it please.

Its not too bad once you grill them suckers. haha Craig hasnt joined mine or yours. The only reason I made one is I thought you were falling down on the job. Now Im in 3 of em. haha

Yes, the lasagna was made with ground beef. Is there any other way to make Lasagna? haha I suppose you could use ground turkey instead. Some people seem to think that's healthier. However, the 85/15 turkey is not as healthy as the 90/10 ground beef from a calorie and fat comparison. In fact, the ground turkey had a lot more calories and fat. Talking about 'Big Cheesy': Ricotta, Mozzarella & Parmesan mix ....

Bahaha I forgot that Garfield loves lasagna How you cannot think of Garfield when mentioning Lasagna, haha. Funny thing is, I didn't even really watch Garfield much at all growing up, but somehow still entrenched in my mind.

I didn't know til a co-worker told me yesterday that pork for New Years was considered good luck. I heard the reason why pork is good luck. Ya want to know why?......Because a pig is the only animal that can not look back. It can only look forward. Kind of cool huh. I will join playoff challenges. I have just been not up par and my mom was in the hospital a few days. Marlene has been sick also, so I went to my sisters resturant (Brody's) yesterday with my oldest daughter and two grand kids.
