September 8,1644-The Dutch colony of New Amsterdam surrenders to British fleet that sails into its harbor. Five years later the British change the name to New York. What...is that the story of NY? I didn't know of that story. September 8, 1973-Hank Aaron sets record of most Home runs in 1 league (709). He was the first baseball card that I ever spent serious money on. Spent about $40 when I was about 12 years old for a 1968 Topps Hank Aaron card. Had it in that hard plastic cover with the little screws, lol. I used to love looking at my sports cards. Thought I was making an investment for the future, then they flooded the market with some many different brands that it got watered down to the point of no worth
