divebitch#49ers RB Jerick McKinnon suffered a knee injury during practice today and is undergoing further evaluations. The 5-foot-9, 205-pound McKinnon suffered the injury during practice and was observed grabbing the back of his right knee, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. Maiocco added McKinnon watched the remainder of practice after being checked out by medical personnel. McKinnon is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right knee, the team announced Sunday.

Dirtbag here. You're welcome.
McKinnon, who sustained a leg injury during Sunday's practice, was revealed to be dealing with a right calf strain, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McKinnon was removed from Sunday's practice with what was thought to be a knee injury, and he then spent the rest of the day watching from the sidelines. However, a recent MRI apparently showed the running back sustained no structural or nerve damage, so a long-term absence seems unlikely. The 49ers will reportedly give McKinnon a week of rest and then re-evaluate his situation next week.

Dirtbag designation rescinded.

The New York Giants had a scare during Monday's practice.
Rookie running back Saquon Barkley, the second overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, hauled in a pass down the right sideline before being tended to by members of the medical staff after the play.
He was then observed with a wrap around his left leg, but walked off the field without the wrap at the conclusion of practice, according to multiple reports.

Due to the timing of his shoulder surgery following Super Bowl LII, Alshon Jeffery is no lock to be ready for the NFL Kickoff Game versus the Falcons on Sept. 6, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the situation.
In fact, there's a chance that Jeffery will remain on the physically unable to perform list to start the season, Rapoport added. In which case, the seventh-year veteran would miss at least the first six weeks of 2018.
That will suck so bad if Alshon has to miss the first six games. He played most of last season with a torn rotator cuff, and still came up big when we needed him the most. 2td's vs MIN in NFC Champ game, and another huge TD catch in the SB.

I find it interesting that with all the health tracking information available from Body temp to heart rate monitoring that NFL coaches are going more on feel and player input when it comes to usage in training camp and preseason. Its early and no matter how hard the players train in the off season they can not simulate the adrenaline rush of the competition. Its the coaches job to protect the players from themselves and bring them along slowly and limit the risk of injury. That is my "Hot Take" of the day.
In other news Andrew Luck is not on a stretcher, in hospital or dead so YAY for the Colts!!! Maybe they will actually try to protect him this season!
