Here are the first-round playoff matchups, based on today's standings. The top three teams in each division earn berths in the playoffs. The next two teams in terms of total points in the conference, regardless of division, earn the wild-card spots. This provides a total of eight teams from each conference. The top seed in each division plays one of the wild-card teams in its conference. The division leader with the most points plays the wild-card team with the fewest points. The second and third seeds in each division face each other in the first round. Philadelphia (20-16-8, 48 points) Trailing Pittsburgh by 3 points Games remaining: 38 (18 home, 20 away) vs. quality teams: 29, vs. East: 32 For you indydave: Edmonton (20-23-3, 43 points) Trailing Los Angeles by 10 points Games remaining: 36 (19 home, 17 away) vs. quality teams: 27, vs. West: 25 Looks like the Flyers have a much better shot to make the playoffs, compared to the Oilers odds of making it in. Still quite a bit of games to be played though. Flyers been playing better, but just had a 4-game winning streak snapped by the Rangers.

Its been a tough year with Injuries and Illness but the Oilers have had a strong record against their division over the past two years and have surprisingly continued that this year. It is a long shot but with arguably the best player in the game we have a shot. It has been a crazy year with surprise teams out performing the sum of their roster and contenders having down years from players combined with injuries. Lets hope our teams make a good push and make the show this spring!

Hey, indydave. How you been my friend? Sorry your Oiler's didn't make it to the playoffs. Flyers did though, so I look forward to watching, good or bad.

Lightning vs. Devils tonight.
Good luck for your Bolts. I've always hated the Devils. They were one of our biggest rivals for years, and one them (Scott Stevens) ended the career of my favorite hockey player... Eric Lindros.
Lindros was so fun to watch. I don't remember how old you are, but do you remember ever watching Lindros play?

I was a ranger fan back then so was against Philly. And then the rangers got lindros. Just my luck lol. He was good tho.

I thought about my question after I posted it, and later figured that if I weren't a Flyers fan, Lindros would've probably been the type of player I hated. He was a beast. Yeah, you're "never really liked him" quote was probably to kind on your part. haha I forgot he went to the Rangers though.

But still respected him he was a great talent. Never won a cup tho. Crazy that the original trade to get him, what philly gave up later on won the avalanche a few cups and they ran for it every year. Might have been the worst trade in history. But there was no way of knowing that at the time how good forsberg could have been. This was who the nordiques (who later became the avalanche) acquired Steve Duchesne, Peter Forsberg, Ron Hextall, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci and Chris Simon, two draft picks and $15 million.WOW!
