So Thursday afternoon, a customer approaches me inquiring about New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. He's dressed in all black, looks to be in his late 60s or so. I can't help notice that, although I don't recall seeing, in the past 10 - 20 years, what he might look like today, there is no one I've ever seen that looks remotely like him. But come on man, I'm in the Great Northeast of Philly, 15 miles north of downtown, it's like the suburbs. So I ask/say something like 'Ya know, you look a lot like Mickey Dolenz.' To which replies (of course) "That is me". So I help him with his wines, talk to him a bit, and re pays by credit card. I ask to take a glance, and sure enough George Dolenz, his legal first name, you can look it up. Not as sexy as 'Mickey' I guess. And he is 72.
So, I ask him what he's doing in these parts. His wife's family lives in the area. Also ask if he ever gets together with the rest of the band, he says they toured last year. He wasn't overly friendly actually, but pleasant enough. Maybe cuz I was unaware they were even still around, or that Davey Jones died 2 years ago. Well, I kinda knew but wasn't sure, and none of my business, so I didn't mention anything. Did say that I was a a huge fan when I was little, and wished I had my camera. Not sure I would've ran for it, and didn't want to ask for an autograph. It's kind of intrusive. Maybe it's my NYC upbringing. You run into stars all the time there, and it's not cool to intrude when they're on 'private time'.

Dive is star struck. That's really cool. That guy always made me laugh. They were so goofy.
When I worked at Legoland we had lots of stars come. John Travolta and his wife and kids were regulars. There is a small airport close and he would fly in.

But pretty sure it was 2 Kim Crawfords (you have very good taste), and 2 nondescript reds, one Italian, the other I forget. Spent around $80, not too extravagant.

There is a small airport close and he would fly in. Don't you know by now I am a New Yorker?!? It would have to be bigger than that to make me starstruck, except maybe IDK the proper thing to say, so it's kinda awkward. Anyway, they were pretty much history by the 70's weren't they? Isn't it true that they were never even really musicians or at least serious ones? And just thrown together with the main purpose of creating a TV series? The only time I was totally starstruck was in the late 70s. I was working p/t thru HS & Manhattan Community College at a french designer boutique called Ted Lapidus. They were on a lesser scale than say Oscar de la Renta at the time, but they fizzled out in the 90s. Anyway, I'm passing the store to get to the building entrance to take the elevator up to the offices. I see who I'm certain is Todd Rundgren, having seen him like 7 or 8 times in concert. I walk into the store, he's buying a lame lamb fleece wait length jacket. Ewww. But we had a conversation about his venues, and I said thanks, so long, and no autograph. But I loved him to death and still do. Me and my boyfriend at the time (18 or 19 was the drinking age in NY then) partied w/Valerie Bertinelli and a GF on New Years Eve, b4 she hooked up w/Eddie Van Halen. She shared her bottle of champagne with us, we were all drinking right out of the bottle. Her friend insisted it was not her, but like Mickey Dolenz, nobody looks like her. And the voice was exact, and it was expensive champagne for a 20 year old, and to be sharing like that. She just wanted anonymity, like most stars that live in NY I guess. Edit: Now that I look into it, she was born April 1960, so she might have even been underage. It was not a big deal back then. I was getting into clubs at 16. They didn't even have pictures on licenses. All cute girls can usually get in if you at least had anyone else's ID that was 18.

Me and my brother in-law stopped in Denny's in Cranberry PA and seen Jimmy Snuka, Andre the Giant & a couple other wrestlers. Man Andre's hand was so big it could cover your face. Didn't ask or get any autographs just sat there watching those guys eat.

But at $18 a pop, double a nice dinner for two cooked at home, too rich for my tastes, save a special occasion. The price just went up $2 - $3 here. Pennsylvania is sticking it to the consumers on most booze starting this month. The minute they nailed down the budget to exclude any further privatization of liquor, they raised all the prices. Just a matter of time now (before citizens start demanding privatization, politicians get in bed with private interests, and we all lose our jobs). I wish it could happen tomorrow, so I could GTFO, not have to walk away (from what many would consider a 'good job'), and get unemployment as a bonus.

I have the 76 Yankees and got a ton of autographs that my mom threw away (my fault, although it was in a plastic see-thru binder). Hey I got Phil Rizzuto to sign my organ donors thing on my drivers license. I ran into him while coming back from luch a block from the Hancock building in Chicago. I already knew he knew ansd used to come over my best friend's grandma's house for dinners, with other Yankees. We are talking about prohibition in the late 30s I think. Anyway, the stories my friend told me (of course) were true, as Phil was pretty happy to recall those old days on Cruger Ave in the Bronx.
